Insert a card, walk away with two verified backups.
CardPorter is a menu bar utility for macOS that copies photos and videos from a memory card to up to two destinations at once, verifies every file by re-reading and hashing it, then ejects the card automatically — only once everything checks out.
Three steps, every time you insert a card
Insert the card
CardPorter detects it and starts automatically once you've granted access the first time.
Copy & verify
Files are written to up to two destinations, then re-read and hash-checked against the source.
Safe eject
Only after every file is verified does CardPorter eject the card — never before.
Built for a backup routine you don't have to think about
Dual Backup, One Read
Copy to a Primary and Secondary destination at once. The card is read only once per file, then the same data is written to both — less wear on the card, real redundancy for you.
Verified, Not Assumed
After writing, CardPorter reads the destination back and compares hashes against the source. A file only counts as imported if the hashes match exactly.
Smart Duplicate Detection
Already-imported files are skipped based on actual content, not just name or path — so reformatting the card and shooting again never gets mistaken for something you already have.
Organized Automatically
Destination folders and file names are generated from capture date, camera name, and media type — fully configurable per profile.
Read-Only Card Access
CardPorter never writes to, renames, or deletes anything on your card. Access is granted once via the standard macOS file picker and remains strictly read-only.
Zero Network, Zero Tracking
CardPorter makes no network connections of any kind. Import history and permissions are stored only inside its own sandbox container on your Mac.
